Christmas is a time for families to come together, share wishes of peace and happiness, and embark on new beginnings. This festive period traditionally spans from Christmas Day (December 25) to January 5, and in some traditions, it may also include January 6, which is recognized for the Epiphany in Western Christianity or the Baptism of Jesus in Eastern Christianity. Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus and is often referred to as the "12 days of Christmas."
In the joyful Christmas atmosphere and the chilly winter weather, the Ha Loi Phong Nha Parish, along with the parishes of Gia Hung, Trooc, Khe Gat, Bau Sen, and Chay, located in the World Natural Heritage site of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, organized peaceful Christmas ceremonies. The community was excited to embrace a festive and joyous Christmas.
With the support of various levels of government, parish organizations, and parish priests, attendees felt immense joy and excitement in celebrating this significant holiday among Catholic communities. People cherished the opportunity to unite, express profound affection, and exchange heartfelt wishes.
Amid this joyful atmosphere, families decorated beautiful and sparkling Christmas spaces, adorned Christmas trees, and embellished bell towers to honor this important holiday.
In larger churches, cultural activities took place to celebrate the season. Churches and bell towers were splendidly decorated, and Christmas trees, along with the Bethlehem grotto that depicts the birthplace of Jesus, were highlighted. Above the grotto shone a sparkling star, symbolizing the guiding star that led the wise men to the newborn Jesus.
At night, the Christmas atmosphere became even more lively and dazzling with twinkling lights. People ventured out to enjoy the festive vibe, and many young individuals gathered to visit central locations, take pictures, and immerse themselves in the joyful ambiance. This season encouraged loving gestures and warm connections among individuals.
